Columbia Pike Blues Festival, This Saturday, 6/21

This year’s 13th annual Columbia Pike Blues Festival will be held on Saturday, June 21st, from 1-8 pm at S. Walter Reed Dr. This year’s lineup includes:

1:00     Danny Blew & the Blues Crew
2:00     Karl Stoll & the Dangerzone
3:00     Melanie Mason Band
4:00    Tom Principato
5:15      Memphis Gold
6:30     Roomful of Blues

 Food vendors will include: Big Daddy’s BBQ, Rincome Restaurants, Bob & Edith’s Diner, gyros, turkey legs, Old Arlington Grill, Taj Palace Restaurant, and every other type of fair food imaginable! Alcoholic beverages will also be served to those 21 years of age and older, until 7 pm.

Courtesy of PikeRide, service will be free all day on the #16 buses from the Pentagon and Pentagon City Metro stations to the Festival site and back. Limited parking is available at the Arlington Career Center located at 816 S. Walter Reed Dr., Arlington VA 22204, and in the ECDC parking garage located on 9th St. S. just off S. Highland St.

Tips From Arlington County for Keeping Cool

1. Drink plenty of fluids (non-alcoholic), even if you are not thirsty.
2. Wear light-weight, loose-fitting clothing.
3. Stay cool indoors.
4. Schedule outdoor activities carefully and wear sunscreen.
5. If you exercise outdoors, go in the morning or evening hours.
6. Eat light, regular meals - avoid hot foods and heavy meals.
7. Never leave anyone - infants, children, or pets - in a parked car.
8. Know the signs of heat related illness.
9. All County facilities — including community centers and libraries — are air-conditioned and open to the public.

4th Annual Crystal Rocks Concert, Crystal City, VA

The Eastview and Westview at Ballston Metro - 2008 Market Stats

The Eastview at Ballston Metro, located at 1001 N. Randolph Street in Arlington, a 10 story, 226-unit condo conversion is located 1.5 blocks from the Ballston metro in the heart of Arlington. We’ve had some recent inquires about the building, so we’re going to do a condo spotlight on this building, and it’s sister- the Westview at Ballston Metro.

 Since January 1, 2008, the Eastview has sold 4 units….3 of them were 1 bed, 1 bath condos:
Average NET Selling Price: $337,497
Average Days on the Market: 39

2008 CSC Invitational Bike Race in Arlington

Sunday, June 1st is The CSC Invitational - the region’s premier professional bike race. 2008 marks the 11th year of this competition. This exciting event offers race fans a great opportunity to see the world’s best cyclists compete on a very spectator friendly course 1 km in length, located at the Clarendon Metro stop in Arlington, VA. The 100 lap Men’s Pro race will begin shortly after noon.

For Arlington county residents, please be aware of the following road closures on Sunday:

From 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:
• Wilson Blvd. from 10th St. to Edgewood St.
• Clarendon Blvd. from Washington Blvd. to Edgewood St.
• Washington Blvd. from 13th St. to Highland St.
• Highland St. from Wilson Blvd. to Washington Blvd.
• Garfield St. and Fillmore St. from Wilson Blvd. to Washington Blvd.

The Arlington Virginia Real Estate Market - April 20008

It looks like April not only brought showers to Arlington, it brought an improvement to the real estate market! Check out the statistics on the market below:

Avg Sold Price 2008: $584,253 (up 4% from 2007)

Avg Days on the Market April 2008: 72 (selling faster by 1 day than 07)

Sale Price % of List Price: 94%

Total Units Sold: 194 (about 19% of the active listings)

The average sale price for April was just over 4% higher than April 2007. Listings are moving, on average, 1 day faster than April 2007. These are all great signs that the market here in Arlington is beginning to improve as Spring traffic begins to pick up!! Let’s talk today 703.283.4524

Great Sushi in Arlington and McLean Virginia - Endo Sushi

For those Sushi lovers out there, we’re always on the prowl for new places to frequent to try some new Tuna Rolls, Spider Rolls, Crab Salad Rolls…you get the picture. We LOVE Endo Sushi, even more so because it’s got 2 locations - one in McLean across from our new office, and the other in Arlington (right in Clarendon). Their special rolls are the reasons we keep going back - their Caterpillar Rolls and Tempura Lobster Rolls - Yum!! We had lunch there today and I could go back for more!!

Anyone have other good recommendations for Sushi places?

Bike, Run, Drink & Eat - Saturday is Clarendon “Neighborhood Day”

With weather in the 70s this weekend (if the rain holds out), it’ll be a great chance to go visit Clarendon on Saturday,  May 10th for “Neighborhood Day!” Starting with a 10k Run/2k Walk, followed by the C.S.C. (Clarendon Cup) Bike Race, with a parade in the middle! Planning your itinerary for the day may be helped by this list of shopping and dining areas.
